Subject: Scheduled Appointment with Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah
An appointment has been scheduled with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah, for a group meeting in the morning, followed by lunch at the University. A few of us had the opportunity to contribute to the concept of the “Community Kitchen” at the University of Jaffna, and we look forward to discussing its development and potential impact during this meeting.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Jaffna has continued a vital initiative to provide free meals to students, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Over 4,000 students have benefited from this program. It was originally launched by university lecturers, who began by donating their own money to get the effort off the ground. Since then, the broader community—including local organizations and alumni from the diaspora—has come together to support and sustain the program's success.
Please note that the Vice-Chancellor is set to retire in March 2026.
